Carrie Sue Ayvar will share stories at the Jewish Book Month luncheon that will take place November 7th at 11am. She is an award-winning bilingual storyteller, speaker, Chautauqua Scholar and Kennedy Center and Wolftrap trained Teaching Artist. On November 20th at 7pm, Russel Lazega will discuss his heartfelt book "Managing Bubbie" about caring for his mother, a very strong willed Holocaust survivor. Proceeds support the JCC's Children's Scholarship Program and WECARE Food Pantry. Sponsorships are available and individual tickets are only $36 for the luncheon and $18 for the evening program. Both events are upstairs in the Soref JCC's Administration Building.

At the Soref JCC's annual meeting last evening, Coral Springs Mayor Scott J. Brook was presented with the Samuel M. & Helene Soref Community Service Award for his extensive community work. Past prominent awardees include Honorable Ilene Lieberman, Mayor Judy Paul (Town of Davie), Honorable Robert Butterworth, Commissioner Byron Jaffe (City of Weston), and Honorable Howard Finkelstein (Broward County Public Defender). The annual meeting celebrated 42 years of community impact by the Soref JCC.
