The American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Course will certify participants to become lifeguards. The course is designed to teach individuals ages 15 and older the skills and knowledge to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services take over. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive certification in Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and Administering Emergency Oxygen valid for 2 years that is universally accepted for hire.
Traditional Lifeguard Training Classroom Course - 4 Day Course (Cost: $250 per student)
This course is designed for participants that prefer the traditional class room setting. Instructor guided lectures and hands-on pool training sessions are used to teach participants basic water safety and proper protocols when dealing with aquatic emergencies. Entries, rescues, CPR, First-Aid, and how to handle suspected spinal injuries are all taught and practiced.
Blended Learning Class - 2 Day Course (Cost: $250 per student)
This format allows students to watch American Red Cross instructional videos at the convenience of their home. Course information will be delivered through a web based presentation. Students then attend two full day training sessions at the pool to practice hands-on rescues, entries, CPR, First Aid, and how to handle spinal injuries.
Lifeguard Review/Re-certification Course - 2 Day Course (Cost: $135 per student)
This class is designed to re-certify lifeguards who are currently certified to extend their certification for another two years. This class is only offered for those whose certification is still valid (or within 30 days of expiring).
Course Prerequisites
All students must be able to pass a pre-requisite skills evaluation. The skills evaluation will be administered the first day of the course and includes the following:
1. Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. You may swim the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both. You may use swim goggles.
2. Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs. Hands should be placed under your armpits.
3. Complete the the timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds (swim goggles are not allowed on this skill)

Refund Policy
Do you need to reschedule a class? Just give us a call and we can accommodate you in a future class. There are NO refunds once the course fee has been received. Superior Aquatic Training reserves the right to cancel any class due to low enrollment numbers. If a class is cancelled, paid participants will be notified at least 12 hours prior to the first class date, by telephone.
