In accordance with the State of Florida, all afterschool employees must be at least 18 years old, a High School Graduate, clear a local and federal background check, complete a 40 hour training course and First Aid/CPR Certification. JCC staff members meet and/or exceed the required credentials by the School Board and Children and Family Services licensing departments. Many of the JCC staff employees are college-educated professionals. Certified teachers provide homework assistance for grades 1-5.
Our JCC has provided safe and nurturing afterschool programs for over 34 years. All programs are inclusionary and exceed the standards of Broward County School Board, Children's Services Council of Broward County and the Division of Children and Family Services.
Children receive quality academics and recreational programming during afterschool time. We follow a daily schedule of developmentally appropriate activities including student academic support for homework assistance, computers, reading, math and science components, organized sports, outside play, indoor games, arts and crafts, dance, and more. Homework assistance is provided in a quiet location free of distractions. Dinner is provided for all children attending our afterschool program on a full time basis.
We also have a wonderful new incentive program for our parents called "Bring a Buddy Referral Program". After your child is registered, you will then qualify to receive a $50 bonus check for each new child that you bring to our after school program. This offer is unlimited
Our JCC provides scholarships for qualifying families in need, however assistance is very limited due to the high cost of operating in the COVID-19 environment. Please ask for a scholarship financial assistance application.
