Humanitarian of the Year Gala

ROYAL CARIBBEAN HONORED WITH SOREF JCC HUMANITARIAN OF THE YEAR AWARD

Award Recognizes Cruise Line’s Efforts to Protect and Improve the Communities Where it Operates

MIAMI, Feb. 26, 2018 – The Samuel M. & Helene Soref Jewish Community Center (JCC), a nonprofit organization serving South Florida since 1977, will honor Royal Caribbean International  with the Bill Keith Humanitarian of the Year Award at its 22nd annual gala to be held on Sunday, April 29 at Signature Grand in Davie.  The event recognizes Royal Caribbean’s efforts to protect and improve the communities and environments which it operates. These efforts include the cruise line’s hurricane relief efforts, its commitment to ocean conservation, education and local employee volunteering initiatives.

“We are proud to be honoring Royal Caribbean for their community leadership efforts over many years.  Their corporate social responsibility initiatives are vast and they have made a huge impact on our communities.  This commitment on behalf of Royal Caribbean defines what excellent corporate citizenship is all about,” said Donald Graw, CEO, Soref JCC.

“I am filled with pride that Royal Caribbean is receiving this honor,” said Michael Bayley, President and CEO, Royal Caribbean International.  “We take great care to ensure we are supporting the communities where we live and operate, from our school in Haiti to our relief efforts during the unprecedented 2017 hurricane season – it’s what good neighbors do.

Proceeds from the gala will support the Soref JCC’s WECARE Food Pantry and Children’s Scholarship Program. This initiative provides free, non-perishable food to approximately 10,000 local residents annually. The scholarship program enables hundreds of children from less fortunate families, some with special needs, to attend the Soref JCC’s highly-regarded preschool, after school and summer camp programs. Over 15,000 individuals of diverse religious and racial backgrounds benefit each year.
