WECARE Food Pantry

Help us assist Charlie and so many others impacted by the COVID-19 crisis

Donations are greatly needed during this very challenging time as very high unemployment is wreaking havoc on our community.  We need your help to keep our shelves stocked so we can help the many children and adults who need us more than ever.  The WECARE Food Pantry is already receiving hundreds of phone calls from people that have never before asked for help.

Charlie is one of these people.  Charlie is a veteran who recently lost his job due to the COVID-19 shut down and is working with CareerSource Broward for employment opportunities.  Charlie is struggling financially to sustain himself and has been referred to the WECARE Food Pantry from the Disabled Veterans' Outreach Program.

The WECARE Food Pantry is able to stretch every dollar donated thanks to the incredible amount of donated food we receive throughout the year, the efforts of remarkable volunteers who generously donate their time, and our ability to purchase food in bulk for a fraction of the retail cost.

$2 a day ($60 a month) provides daily groceries to feed a hungry child.
$3 a day ($90 a month) feeds a senior couple who must rely on Social Security.
$5 a day ($150 a month) provides food for low-wage working parents to feed their family.

Prior to the current crisis, the WECARE Food Pantry has provided approximately 3,500 bags of FREE groceries each year to our neighbors in need regardless of race, religion, age, gender or ethnicity. We could not accomplish this important mitzvah if not for the generous donations we receive year round from caring individuals, organizations, schools, synagogues and businesses in our community.  Thanks to United Way of Broward County, we are also able to distribute fresh produce to needy people through Project Lifeline.  We are also grateful to the Jewish Federation of Broward County for its very generous and long-time funding of this vital community program.
