The Soref JCC will proudly honor Alligator Ron Bergeron as its 2026 Humanitarian of the Year on May 17, 2026.   The western themed event will take place at the Bergeron Green Glades Ranch in Weston and will have some great BBQ and live country music.  Alligator Ron has been a long-standing, ardent supporter in protecting the Everglades and our natural environment. He believes strongly in philanthropy and has contributed to over 4,000 charitable causes throughout his 50 years in business. Publix Charities continued its long-time support of the Soref JCC's WECARE Food Pantry with a very generous $12,500 donation.  The Publix Charities Foundation was established in 1966 by George W. Jenkins, Founder of Publix, to improve life in our communities.  We are very appreciative of the Foundation's recognition of our mission which includes helping our Broward neighbors in need of food. 

Simon Wiesenthal, a survivor of the Nazi death camps, dedicated his life to documenting the crimes of the Holocaust and to hunting down the perpetrators still at large.  The Soref JCC will host the one man play "Wiesenthal" presented by Not Your Average Theatre Group on Saturday, February 24th at 8pm and Saturday, March 2nd at 2pm in Soref Hall.  Wiesenthal is known as the Jewish James Bond who brought over 1,200 Nazis to justice.  Tickets are $20 each in advance and $25 each at the door.
